I'm 6' and 227# and can sometimes jibe and stay dry for a hour or more
even on my sinker (8'9" Enduro)

For getting into the straps, what helped me was to get a board with
enough flotation. I'd go for either of the techno's but the smaller one
is a good match with your fat mutant (24" or 25" wide?) as a 2 board
quiver. At 250#, you might enjoy the extra flotation of the 293 but
that board is really big and I bet a small sail for it is a 7.5.
