JW will get tons of advice on this, but I'll take a shot even though I'm not really there yet, either. First, the Veloce 278 was my favorite board, until I damaged it too much. I think it jibes well, when well powered.

My first guess is that in spite of what you may believe, you aren't entering jibe with enough speed. At lower speeds the process changes due to apparent wind and you need to round out more clew first, letting the wind drag you the rest of the way around (put crudely, I expect). I assume like what you are calling a pivot jibe. Also, it's important not to try and make 180deg jibe, but instead to exit going more downwind before trying to come back to the 180deg point.

All of this is advice I'm still trying to apply dozens of times, if not hundreds, each weekend day.

Finally, if you aren't aware of it, there is an internet news.group called rec.windsurfing which has enormous threads on this subject. A guy named Mike Fick (NLWTFW) has written several bibles on the subject. Subject includes bending knees, etc. Then there are all the videos.

But, as implied, it seems to be a very long/slow learning curve, and not just for me.
