I went out of town for four days and COTW/iws.com get's rolled up with some
crappy "GenX-lifestyle-portal-DOT-COM." I just want my viento_data, in a
quick, reliable manner. Now the site is SO SLOW it is not usable.

Ever since COTW was taken offline, the iws.com team has been making excuses
for how SLOW it has gotten. While I have not *benchmarked* the site, often
it is 10X as slow as the light, lean, and simple COTW interface. Clearly
this latest move to create iws.com was not as an additional *service* for
those customers who have paid and supported the company all these years.
Rather, it seems it was just a rollem' up and SELL out their customers as a
bucket of LOYAL eyeballs scheme, to some soul-free lifestyle portal. I am
PRETTY PUT OFF BY THIS LATEST MOVE... ;-( I assume that I am NOT alone.

Again, I just want my viento_data. I do not want maps, help with my vacation
or equipment purchases, satellite photos, etc. I just want my viento_data,
in a quick, reliable manner.
COTW was simple, beautiful concept; viento_data delivered four times an hour
while the sun is up. Sign me up, here is my ~200.00/year, keep the change.

Now, the site is SO slow I can hardly use it. I just got back from a
non-windsurfing trip to MT for a wedding. I got on my computer to check my
e mail and look at the viento history to "see what I missed." I have been
waiting for 15 mins to see what the Stick, HERD AVE, CP, and W reading for
the past five days, but I have only got two of the days from the Stick and
the other requests have timed out. In contrast the COTW interface would
have served this info up almost instantly... And this is in the middle of
the night. I fear what speed I will expect tomorrow during a peak afternoon
user load.

As part of the ZuluSports network, we can now offer a broad array of
editorial content, feature stories, travel resources, gear reviews, and much
more.

I just want my viento_data, in a quick, reliable manner.

ZuluSports.com offers information on various adventure sports including
compelling sport-specific content, weather information, professional reviews
of the latest gear, health and training direction, worldwide destination
coverage, trip planning assistance, and instant shopping alternatives
through our multiple retail and e-tail partners. Feature stories and gear
reviews are written by experts for the serious enthusiast, and designed with
the unique needs of the online user in mind.

I just want my viento_data, in a quick, reliable manner.

It would be one thing if we were all getting this data for FREE and had to
put up with this additional NOISE content as a Price.Of.Admission (POA) for
the free service, but that is not the case. Why do I need solicitation with
a service that I pay for? At the office building I lease, my staff and I do
not have to put up with people dropping by selling services or products
(that we MIGHT need) based on the type of work that we do... ?

We hope you will enjoy and take advantage of this partnership - we're
excited to be a part of
the ZuluSports Network!

I just want my viento_data, in a quick, reliable manner.

BTW: A special thanks to Mr. Poulton for hosting this gripe-group all these
years and hosing HIS weather page. And while it only comes out ONCE an hour,
it always loads fast and when he adds *features* (new weather
readings/sites) they are really features, not like the ADDITIONS we have
gotten from the iws.com fiasco. The COTW site, which was already much
slower when it was combined with all the other iws.com, now is even slower
when combined with ALL of zulusports.com sites. Do we see a pattern here?

I wish I had an alternative and I would vote with my $. Maybe I should call
the DOJ. Now that the MS trail is winding down, they could pursue this
matter as the next big monopoly case.
