Subject: What to Do?

Hello from San Jose,

I have been windsurfing for about 4 seasons. I have been lurking on this
mail list for two.
Starting with an old Alpha long board and cloth sails, I then picked up a
used Tiga 9'10"
"Power Jibe" (translation,"you need plenty of power to jibe this sucker") and
some old windwing 2 camber sails. I have my water starts and harness
work down pretty well, get into the straps without effort. I have been
sailing a couple times a week at Palo Alto, Candlestick, and Coyote this
season and enjoying it a whole bunch. I am 48 years old, reasonably fit
and weigh 145 lbs.

Now for the "what to do?" part. I can't seem to complete a jibe if my
life depended on it. Oh, once in a while I can stay standing long
enough and the Tiga will meander in the proper direction and I can grab
the booms and slog off in the opposite reach but I can't carve a jibe,
ever! It's getting a little discouraging because up to now it's come
pretty easy. I just can't seem to get that board around the turn and
then the sail seems to be too heavy to flip around (those videos make it
look so easy). I admit the gear I have is second rate but now I'm ready
to spend some real dough (two or three dollars, at least) if it will get
me to the next level.

Question: Should I

a)get a new board that is 1)easier to turn?

                                                  2)shorter than 9'10"?

                                 3)longer than 9'10"?

                                                                3.5) wider
than 9'10"?

                                                                4)weighs
less than a mini-van?

b)get some new RAF type sails that are easier to flip?

c)enroll in the next ABK Clinic?

        d)All of the above?

e)None of the above, just keep slamming in until I get it?

        f)Take up golf.
