I sailed Waddell on my 4.7/8'6" (#145) from 4:30-6:30 pm Sunday. You're right,
it was a bit gusty. A 5.0 rigged flat might have been a bit more optimal. The
break was pretty intimidating but I was in a rare "it's a good day to die" mood
and it wasn't that bad as long as you sail with total concentration and
intensity. Jibing on the wave faces is a riot but kind of intimidating when you
turn around and see how big the wave you were just riding is and how it is
about to break on you. The tide was low so there was alot of kelp and debris
being churned up by the waves. I managed to rip the main strap out of my new
harness, no idea how it happened (it wasn't the result of a fall). Some of the
bigger sets were well over my head, probably 8 footers. Outside the zone it was
a couple feet of chop running perpendicular to the big waves.
