Sailed there for the first time on Sunday. Pager read anywhere from 19 to 24
during the time I was there. When I got there there were about 8 cars, and
when I left, maybe 30. Ebb started right around 2:00, and I was comfortably
OP'd on a 5.5. Being my first time there I rode a larger board than I would
have preferred at 95 liters and little nose scoop. Starboard tack back in
was a real screamer. Huge swell outside. Lots of recreational boat traffic.
I'd like to sail it on a weekday for the following reasons: 1) Toll Plaza is
a zoo on Sunday Afternoon. 2) Lots of boat traffic headed home on Sunday
afternoon. I'm not sure if I like or dislike #2. Certainly I'm able to
maneuver around the traffic, and in the case of a breakdown, there are more
chances of a rescue, still, it's a bit distracting. Since I wasn't even sure
whether I would sail or not, #1 didn't bother me. But having sailed there,
sitting in traffic for 40 minutes while the pager is showing 19 or better
would just about cause me to go postal. Next time I sail there I want to
replace my universal, pack some extra line, and hopefully not go out alone.

Steve

Anyone sail Treasure Island the last two days? How about a report. Saturday
at TI was awesome with a record 60 windsurfers on site at one time but a
couple thousand acres of on the water area to spread out on.

Monday night I was using my VHF radio to monitor the Coast Guard as they
picked up a hypothermic kiter at Crissy and loaded him/her into an
ambulance.
I heard another call bu Coasties starting a search for two windsurfers
reported 2-3 miles off Candlestick after sunset. Any first hand info?

Peter
