I was hoping to get access farther west to give some breathing room on a
flood tide. I'd be curious to see the diagram from the Mercury as I won't
make today's meeting. Maybe someone can scan it?

I stressed the need for close parking in my letter to TIDA and the developer.
If the parking is not in the plan, we will have to push hard to educate the
decision makers as to why you can't have parking 100s of yards from a launch.
They don't know how much the gear weighs or why we may have to swap out gear,
etc. There are anti-car forces that don't want any parking available and we
have to explain that parking near a launch opens up 1000s of acres of Bay to
an exciting and non-polluting recreational form.

It looks like there will also be a presentaion of the plan tomorrow at 6:00
p.m. at the Port of SF Offices - Pier 1 across from the Embarcadero in the
Bayside Conference Room.

On August 13th @ 6:00 p.m. there will be a joint meeting of the Treasure
Island Development Authority (TIDA) and the Treasure Island Community
Advisory Board (CAB). This will be a good opportunity for people to comment
and be heard by both bodies at once. I believe that this will be at SF City
Hall but I'll post up details at sfba.org once I'm sure.

This is the time to push for good access... while the plan is still open to
be reworked. By the end of the season there will be less flexibility as
elements of the plan are firmed up. Public comment does count.

Peter
