I am sympathetic to heavy weights trying to advance in the sport. I
have suffered through the times when I listened to people who,
although well intentioned, did not have experience sailing at over
230 lb. Everything was either too small or ...well too small is the
big problem and I don't remember the others.

I have found out what works for me. I have a pair of boards from
Real wind up in the Gorge. The bigger one is shaped for bump and
jump and is really beefed up for a board that weighs 17 pounds. It
is 120 liters and from what I remember of learning waterstarts if
the board sinks a few inches that helped me get upright more easily.
So 120 isn't that small. Plus it handles like a dream for when you
advance into jibing. Its called the real style. It is a custom
board made by a shaper who does a lot of boards for big guys. I
think its www.realwind.com.
