I had Halsey Ligard repair my last couple of sails and he did great work.

I have had sails that have needed the top strap replaced more than once do to
wear on the ground during rigging. I've opted to only buy sails that have a
protected cap area or a strap that can be replaced by threading in a new
strap. If you plan to keep the sail for a long time, maybe the rpair could be
an attachment point for a strap that can be replaced... put a second buckle
on.
