I think it is fair to make adjustments for how hard you stress the gear and
for how often you sail. If you sail 10-20 year, then 5 years probably isn't
pushing it assuming you take good carf of the gear off the water (keep it out
of the sun). On the other hand, if you are a heavy weight hitting big air and
sailing 100 days a year, then two years might even be pushing it. I cherish
each and every piece of gear that has lasted two full seasons... mostly finsn
and mast pads...
