I have been to Arenal and would go back to Costa Rica again. In
Costa Rica, I didn't windsurf, and I don't regret that. There is
just too much to do that is world-class in CR, especially if you
have the time to get up close with wildlife. Seeing a monkey in the
wild is as fun as a monkey jibe. If you have just a week, you may
wish to see the sights before windsurfing.

I've also been with Solo Sports to Punta San Carlos. Unlike CR,
where the windsurfing is okay and the alternatives are fantastic,
San Carlos has fantastic wavesailing (when it's on) and the
alternatives are okay. San Carlos is a spot which provides little
else to do, except windsurf, surf, and hike. That's part of the
charm of sleeping on a point over the ocean, isolated except for a
fishing village. I believe we went in October. There were no
flights when I went, so we all took the Solo van from San Diego or
LA.
