There is no FAQ that I am aware of, but here is what I have gleamed over
the years:
1. Don't go in water when it's murkey - sharks can't see well, and may
mistake you for a seal
2. Don't go in water after big rains - run offs attract sharks, lots of
yummie stuff to eat, murky water
3. Don't spend too much time in water immitating seals - make your outside
jibes
4. Don't be scared - I am a firm believer that sharks, and all other
animals, can sense when you are scared, and they will pounce on you when
you are scared.
5. Don't pee in your wet suite while sailing in the ocean - animals
urinate when they are scared, don't be scared
6. Don't be a mean person - "instant karma is going to get you" John
Lennon said. A shark is more likely to attack people who suck.
7. Respect the rules of wave sailing - see #6 above. Last thing I want to
deal with is people's bad vibes when I am trying to zen in on wave rides.

Driving your auto is much more risky. Don't live your life in fear. Just
live.

So, for someone who's kinda new around here, is there a handy FAQ
file for how to avoid being an hors d'oeuvre?

"No, I am *not* a sea lion."
