> Going against its staff recommendation, BCDC voted to oppose SB1562. At
one point, Will Travis, Executive Director, held up a stack of paper one
inch thick and said, " This is the email I've gotten since this morning
opposing the bill."

*Urgent Action Alert*
Take one minute, send one email, help protect the Bay.

Situation: BCDC will be holding a hearing regarding a couple of
controversial State Bills on Thursday April 6. Thanks to the power of
email, you do not need to attend the meeting to make a difference. One of
the bills [SB 1562 - written specifically to help the SFO expansion move
forward] would weaken CEQA (the California Environmental Quality Act) which
is the last thing we need. BCDC's role is only to comment on these
bills, but if BCDC does not have the political support from people like US
to be able to take a stand and oppose these bills, then their own role in
protecting the SF Bay may be seriously weakened. LET'S LET THEM HEAR FROM
US IN FORCE.
