Excuse me?

Excuse me for asking such a simple question; so simple that surely this has
already been thought of but....

Shouldn't there be a regional air traffic and airport commission tha
oversees the airport and air traffic expansion in all to the San Francisco
Bay Area Metropolitan Area? It doesn't seem like good planning to have
SFO, Oakland and San Jose Airports expanding independently. A regional air
traffic planning commission could review the merit of proposed airport
expansions for their impact on the environment, benefit to the Bay Area
residents. If runway expansion to accomodate larger jets and greater
traffic can be constructed say, at the Oakland Airport with a minimum of
impact to the environment to that of SFO, than it should also be considered
as an option. Right? Surely, someone has thought of this and it' already
happening right?

After all the SFO airport is not even located in San Fransico. I think
it's in San Bruno. I'll bet the name San Francisco sells a lot of tickets
though. Let's look at the big picture. It's not just about SFO. If
bigger jets and more air traffic can be accomodated at the least impact to
the environment (recreational sites included) at either San Jose or Oakland
than they should also be considered as viable alternatives to filling miles
of Bay shoreline.

Should we write governor Gray Davis about this? Someone please enlighten
me. Is there already a regional airtraffic planning group?
