FYI

There will be environmental review coming under state and federal law
when they go to BCDC and the Army Corps for permits to fill the bay. In
theory all impacts must be analyzed. At the same time an EIR will be
prepared by consultants - funded by SFO. The review will require the
Airport to do an "alternatives analysis" Windsufers should make sure
that the Analysis is real and looks at everything including not building
it, teaming up with Oakland Airport and San Jose, and other "non
strutural" and management solutions to the problem. Also some very
interesting stuff has been posted here about high-tech navigation. As
far as money, my guess is that they have already put about 0.5 to 0.75
million into the various runway preliminary designs, etc. Re politics,
we should also keep a close eye on new Davis appointments to BCDC. The
BCDC was created to put the brakes on these kinds of projects.
