Wind_Talk:

The other night on KGO the SFO airport proudly
announced that it was approving 1 M worth of bid
contracts, four bids at 250,000 per firm, to propose
four different designs for building the airport's new
runways in SF Bay.

This seems to me a little ahead of the game, assuming
that the runways will eventually be built, so why
don't we get busy approving a design right now?
Curious in light of the fact that the "build on the
bay runway POV" has not been approved and with our
efforts might NOT EVER happen.

Question: How much money has the SFO airport approved
for environmental impact studies? They are ready to
drop a million dollars to create four plans within the
"build on the bay runway POV", yet the real issues
and choice will be to build in the bay or NOT.

This is such a typical end around. I can hear it
now, "well, we have already spent a million on the
specs (all which will push for the "build on the bay
runway POV") we might as well just get going on the
project so we insure that the specification funding is
well spent. Also, this will attempt to obfuscate the
real choices between the other various options that
will NOT build in the bay. Now we will see that SFO
will re-construe the discussion to decided WHICH spec
for the "build on the bay runway POV" will be best.
This will shift the discussion away from the more
strategic issue that surrounds whether the
construction should even take place.

Stay abreast of the situation and stay involved.

Regards,

Gordon.
