i've had an on-going problem with winsurf hawaii power taper booms. there is
a cleat that the out hual loops around to obtain a 2:1 mechanical advantage.
i've broken four of them. w.h. has always replaced them but it is a poor
design. there is an alternative way to rig the out haul so you don't have to
swim. other than that the w.s. booms have been pretty good. i trust them
more that plastic.
