I've seen new chinooks fail at the head and I broke two so I switched to WS
Hawaii. But those broke eventually too. Chinook has newer models which
might be stronger.

Short answer: They all break, even the $400 carbon jobs. Go for features.
I like WS Hawaii's clew which has teflon gliders so it won't jam up and is
fast to adjust and easy cleat setup. Recommend that you carry spare line
and straps with you on your harness and be prepared to mend a broken boom on
the water. They seem to go at the head, so you lash from the boom handle to
the head. I've sailed on a full plane for several miles back to the beach
that way.
