Greetings,
At the WBW swap meet I was looking for a mast base for my Street
Sailing Skate board. I saw something that one fellow had for sale.
It was an old (10+ yrs) Chinook base with a quick release detachable
plate. The base did not have a tendon, but instead had a kind of
hinge. He was asking $5, and I passed on it a first because I was
leary about its age and the hinge thing. A while later I decide to
buy it and he was gone.
(1st) Any comments about the use of one of these hinge type bases. I
do not plan to use it on the water, just for my skate board
windsurfer. Do they work ok, or does it give an unstable ride?
(2nd) For $5 I am willing to give it a try and want to see if I can
pick one up. The fellow that I met was set up right out side of the
WBW entrance. He was about 210 lbs. or so and had a grey 8 gal.
bucket with a bunch of misc. stuff as well as a couple of sails & such
for sale. If you know who this dude is, fire me off an e-mail and I
will try to hook up with him. Or if you have a suitable inexpensive
base, let me know.
Many thanks,
David
