FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

SAILING - Spa Regatta 1999 website online

Medemblik (NL), 7 January 1999 - The official Spa Regatta 1999 website has gone online today. The SPA Regatta, which has become one of the biggest Olympic Class sailing events world wide, will celebrate its fifteenth edition during the week of 26 to 30 May 1999 in Medemblik, The Netherlands.

Over the years the SPA Regatta has grown to become a well-known challenging and important sailing event on the competition calendar with over 1200 competitors from 51 different countries each year.

The Spa Regatta has been present on the World Wide Web since the beginning of 1996. Over the course of three Spa Regatta 'cybercasts' the site has been on the leading edge of online sailing event coverage. Now, the 1999 Spa Regatta site continues in this tradition of innovation and creativity.

This year, the emphasis has been put on functionality and service to the media and on automating even more processes. The results will be published 'on the fly' as they are generated by the organisation and will be visible on the website long before anywhere else.

The staff journalist of the organisation is able to update the latest news anywhere, anytime using only a webbrowser and an internet connection through the medi@web client lounge. This will ensure ample up-to-date news content before, during and after the event.

World renowned watersports photographer Sjaak van der Linden will be on location again to shoot hundreds of top quality pictures, which will be scanned and made available free of rights on the website in low and high resolutions as a service to the media.

The entryform sends an autoreply to the entrant and to the organisation. The entry is entered immediately into the database, and all online entries are visible as soon as they have been entered. Naturally, these entries aren't final until the organisation has accepted the entry and has received the entry fee.
