On a related note, Jeff, the guy who runs the rental shop there will
rescue you if he sees you're in trouble. However, there is a cost. I
believe it's $100/rescue. Fortunately, I have not had to fork over the
$$$ yet. Just when my ego starts to say: "One more run. I can always
pinch if I have to," I tally up what's in my wallet. :-) What I would
recommend, at least during your first couple runs next year when you
experience the 'stick's full power, is start as close to 101 as possible
and pick a spot on the point that is your absolute "must stop and walk"
point. The 'stick is flat water. But like the other responder, the
place can be deceiving. Winds are often in excess of 30-35 knots...
and is often stronger that Chrissy.
