I agree, buying insurance must in the largest average cost you money.
But a lot of policies include windsurf gear at no extra cost. This is
probably worth checking when deciding on a policy - it's a hidden
benefit worth a hundred or more a year.

I got $3000 (replacement cost) for two boards and two masts last time.
They were probably worth $400 if I had sold them.
