Fall is not the best time to learn wave sailing, summer is. The wind is not
consistent in the fall, and the surf can be big. Avoid going when the surf
is big, and you'll be ok. The best surf info is at 408-976-SURF. It might
work directly from 510 and 415 also. For less accurate but free info,
use buoy 42 readings, and dial 408-475-2275 for surf reports at 41st
street (s'cruz).

ps: Hwy 17 to the coast: call CALTRANS road conditions first, there
have been delays all week due to road work in both directions until
3:15pm or so, in the vicinity of Bear Creek Rd/Old Santa Cruz hwy.
