It seems to be the season for Mast Track et al blow-outs....
At Waddell on Saturday (BTW- 5.5 on 8'4" glass @ 185 lbs from 3:30 - 6:00pm) my
Windsurfing Hawaii Mast Base (2 yr old) blew out: The 'Base' pulled away from
the Board or the Hex bolt head 'inside the 'Base' ripped out ..after a very
short panic I looped the standard tie line attached to most mast bases (3"
line) to the Hex bolt still secured in the mast track and sailed back in quite
comfortably. The line was short enough to keep the mast base on top of the
board.
