In South Africa, the boogie boarders have started using really short, quite
wide fins: only about 10 to 15 cm longer than your feet, with an angled fin,
i.e. one side of the each fin is longer than the other. These don't have a
full shoe, but only 2 straps: one around your heel, and one safety strap
around your ankle. I haven't tried a pair of these, but I understand that they
are better for short powerful bursts of kicking. These are the most compact
fins I have seen, and the straps would be handy to tie to the back of your
harness or whatever. I can't remember if I have also seen them here, but
check out a surfing/boogie-boarding store.
