Hey - you need a better boss. It was windier at 2:30, when I hit the
water - fully to OP on my 4.5 Hot Awol - could easily have sailed a
4.0. By 4:30, it was dying on the inside and a bit lighter outside,
but I left from exhaustion, not lack of wind. The wind was as onshore
as I have ever seen it - though it has been quite onshore all week.
Note COTW showed 21 mph max at 1:00 - which is way under. Perhaps it
underestimates the wind when it turns that much onshore. Normally, I
would expect 25-27 for the conditions I experienced. 21 is usually
moderately powered 5.0.
Starting last Thursday (8/24), it has blown solid 4.5 or 5.0 (for my
160 pounds) every day - I only missed Monday (when I mistakenly went
to Natural Bridges, and the wind was too far out to reach, at least
for the brief period I was there) and Tuesday, when I had other
obligations. Not your typical end of August.
