First off let me berate the group for not a single posting or interest in the
Weekend Coast Reports (except for Mike Godsey who provides thorough and
consistent Bodega/Tomale reports). What kind of a group is this that does not
take an interest in a world class Wave Riding contest held in our own backyard:
Waddell???? Do you think that they will come back next year???? Maybe if they
want to but certainly not by 'popular demand'...
Friday - 5/5/95 - Waddell Creek
The wind was 4.0 at 12:00 noon for the start of the Friday Heats. I sailed a
5.0 (185lbs) at 2:00 at the southern part of the beach until 5:00. Big names
were present; Josh Anguelo, Ian Boyd, Kai Kat.., Dean Karnases,.... The
competition was intense, with lots of looping (forward and back), and the usual
mouth dropping wave riding,...Waves were waist-head high.
Saturday - 5/6/95 - Waddell Creek
Less wind but still plenty to sail. Used a 5.5 from 2:00 - 5:00, waves were
waist - head high. The competition was still strong, with Josh doing a finale
solo heat "IN THE RAW" !!! that's right,..."IN THE RAW" !!..and you all missed
it!!!
Sunday - DEAD and foggy and COLD......of course the local winds were pretty
weak...I sailed Crwon Sterling on a 6.3 at 4:00 and planed half the time until
6:00 when it dropped off entirely...
