Got suckered in to driving to the coast by the wind reading (13G32 avg
23) at 2:50pm. Slogged 50% of the time/planed the other 50% on a 4.2.
About 30 min into the session, sailed into a hole right smack in the middle
of the impact zone. Was it my turn in the maytag?
Yup. Watched a logo high wave break 20 feet away from me. Managed
to stay up for a while as the wall of white water engulfed me. Then
came the wash-rinse-get a breath of air-wash-rinse-get a breath of air
routine. Got dragged over submerged rocks. Not fun. Finally got pounded
by the shorebreak. (Wash, no rinse cycle, just sand rammed down my
neck and ankles inside my wetsuit).
Got a few scrapes on my body, my gear was fine! I thought about going
back out. Nope, nada, not today. Put tail between legs and went home.
