Windsurfing Express, Sailways and other windsurfing mail order companies
offer pre-made board racks such as the ones others have been describing
(2x4 w/ pipes sticking out). They also offer soft racks - a series of
slings made out of some type of webbing which support both ends of your
boards. The soft racks are a little more space efficient as they hold
your boards flat up against the wall. However this design makes it a
little harder to get your boards in and out of the rack.

I purchased the hard racks for about $40 from some mail order company
and am happy with them. They come with everything you need - the 2x4s,
pipes, pipe insulation and screws. All you do is press the pipes into
the 2x4s and screw the 2x4s into some studs. You can get either a 2
board rack or a 4 board rack. The spacing between the pipes will
actually allow you to get 2 boards on each set of pipes. I have
actually gotten 8 boards onto my 4 board rack.

For mast racks (I have one piece masts), I bought 2 U shape brackets,
wrapped some insulation around them and fastened them to the studs so
they hold the masts horizontally.
