It won't be much of a course, unless it includes the area on the other side
of 3rd avenue, away from the water. 23 acres is not enough to put more than
9 holes and maybe a driving range in, I'd guess. Especially when you consider
the acres of parking/rigging we want!! Not that *I* particularly care about
the quality of the golf course, but VB Golf might.

This is a good concept!

What VB Golf should do is put in a building like at Shoreline, with a pro shop and
restaurant/bar for the golfers, and a space for Vela to lease. Make the parking
lot big enough for golfers and sailors. Put in a nice flat grassy area for rigging,
with water for rinsing gear off. Maybe even put a shower in, like the outside one
at Shoreline.

I'm all for trying to make this happen through VB Golf. It would be great if the
numbers work out so that we get a better sailing area and Vela gets better access
to the sailors at 3rd. Hell, I might even buy something there, if they start
carrying more than just used resort gear (been there, bought that already)!!

Is it too much to hope for? Probably. There's lots of details (like will access
be cut off during the construction period? will the parking be close to the rigging
and will the rigging be close to the ramps? will the building be suitable for Vela's
purposes? will the windsurfers be constantly dodging golf balls?) to be worked out.
It won't happen for a few years in any realistic scenario...

But in the mean time, FC will be happily writing lots of parking tickets.

P.S. Does the SFBA internet mailing address get all the stuff on this mailing
      list?
