Gee if everybody is so sucked in by that classic boards article thing...

I have an original windsurfer for sale! Two sails, full rig, TEAK booms!
A classic, at a new even higher price!

Some old boards are good, but new boards are better. The screamer is
popular because it is forgiving, easy to jibe, soft rails, plenty of
rocker, and pretty floaty so you can slog it back to the car. What is
loses is top speed and upwind ability. (flame avoidance: it does go fast,
it can go to weather - other boards can do these things a bit better).
In higher winds (3rd ave May-July) that floaty attribute gets to be
a real problem - air off of EVERY wave.

I think the Seatrend 8'11" ATV might be the 'new screamer'. It is
floaty and forgiving, and I bet that it has a better top end.

If you are looking at used boards, your options shrink some. An ASD
bay slalom would be a good choice, or a plastic Tiga. The newer
the board is, the better - older boards have the mast track so far
forward that new sails don't rig as efficiently.

My experience with Mistrals is that the nonskid falls off real fast, but
that is easy and cheap to fix.
