I'm also 185 pounds and the Tiga does great with a 5.2 and below, but a
5.7 feels too big to me. I suspect the Axxi would need even more wind
with their softer rails. For your size, I think 8'8 is about as small
as you would want for a single-board-does-it-all board. In fact, I'd
advocate a 9'0 for that purpose - the CFX and ASD 8'8 's seem to be
comfortable with 5.7, but not really with 6.2. Also, I use my 6.2/9'0
combination quite successfully (and quite often) on light days when an
8'8 board would be a trial.

I used to sail my CFX 9'0 in 6.2 to 4.2, (using 3 different fin sizes)
and it does just fine as long as the swell/chop is less than two feet or
so. In fact, I sailed my 9'0 yesterday at San Luis on a 4.2 and it was
fine in that flat water.

My *real* advice for Bay sailing is to plan on getting two boards: a
9'0 to 9'2 slalom board for the lighter days (6.2 to 5.7) and something
more bump-and-jump like the 257 or 255 for 5.2 and below. I'm carrying
three boards around these days, but I find I'm not sailing the 8'8 very
often.
