Subject: Re: Call of the Wind windtalkers

Thanks to Jim for the Call of the Wind numbers. I did a little
experiment yesterday, and called the Waddell windtalkers for both CotW
and the Monterey Bay Hangliding Association (MBHA), to see if they
agreed. I got the following data:

At 1:40 PM: T T-20 T-40 T-60
----------
COTW NW 14 NW 13 NW 13 NW 13
MBHA 0-19 SSW 3 SSW 0 NNW 7 S 2

At 3:15 PM: T T-20 T-40 T-60
----------
COTW NNW 17 15 14 13
MBHA 0-22 NNW 3 4 1 5

You can see there wasn't much agreement, and that the MBHA talker always
(as it has been lately) gives the speed as varying from 0 to some maximum,
where it used to give some real minimum (eg, 14-22).

I wonder if anyone sailed the coast yesterday, and can tell us which of
these talkers was more accurate? Also, does anyone know where the CotW
talker is located at Waddell?
