Since SFO closed the Flying Tigers access on the south shore of the
inlet between Pt. San Bruno and SFO, it seems like most sailors who
still sail Flying Tigers sail from the north side of the inlet by
parking at the end of Haskins Street or by driving over the curb at
the end of Haskins to get closer to the best launch.

Save The Bay is interested in finding a way to extend the bay trail
around the corner near Haskins and figures it could be a good place
for a trail and wtaer access. Save The bay might help push for land
aquisition or an easement. It is usually easiest to get bay access
when a land owner wants to do work within 100 feet of the shore
because the Bay Commission can make access a condition of any permit
to build.

It would be great if we could any windsurfers who work for the City
of South San Francisco or have good relations with people in
planning, community development, council members, etc. It laso
wouldn't hurt to have a list of South San Francisco residents who
would want to help on the issue a nd a list of regular users who
might help (such as going to a public meeting and explaining why it
is a good site... that the wind can blow when many other places are
dead). Because it is offshore wind relative to the launch, I think
we might want to get a nice usable access but not strongly advertise
the site since less experienced sailors could get in trouble.

How many of you are getting out at Tigers these days and is anyone
interested in helping if the idea of formal public access gels into
a plan?
