+++++++++++++ Sat 3 Jul 04 - 3rd - 16.0/165 (194#) 17:15-18:00

Damn SSW again today. The wind was 0-10 SSW on the beach, but Rocket
Mike went out on a big board and showed us it was WNW 18-20 about 1/4
mile offshore - a 90-degree direction change. It was a remarkable
windline. I finally went out at 5:15 after a lot of waiting and
dithering. There was not enough to fly a kite on the launch most of the
time. When a puff finally came along, I got out and was instantly
powered up very strongly on the new (to me) X3 16! I had a great time!

After 45 minutes, it was getting light, so I tried to come in.
At the SSW boundary there was <5 kt and I was back in the water
and swimming. I was less than 1/4 mile from the windsurf launch
but there was just enough offshore breeze to make my progress
painfully slow. It took me 45 minutes to get in. With the ebb, I
actually reached the shore upwind of the windsurf launch.

Since I expected to swim and can't sail for the next week, it was
worth it. But I woudln't want to do it every day.

4 golf balls in an hour from the range. They got two calls about the
first three and then the fourth one broke a back window on a van.

"Ken is out in the channel floating with a broken mast at Coyote Point.
When should I start to worry?"
Katie Poulton to Kirk Lindstrom, trying to remain calm in the face of
the unknown.... Facts were better than we thought since he launched
from 3rd and probably WAS near Coyote at that time.
