Great summary and tips, thanks Bob.
I'm a BIG proponent of the two-bolt mast base, after
my swim halfway across the Columbia. My board scooted
upriver to the Oregon side at Doug's Beach, my rig
sank, and I swam for it. It was a light day,
and my newly replaced hourglass' stiffness caused the
single bolt to unscrew/loosen enough for the rig to
slide forward and out of a center opening track,
within a couple reaches.
The two-bolt mast base stays exactly where I put it,
and even if it did loosen up, it could not come out
of any mast track, whether the opening is front,
center or rear.
