Regional Workshop #3: Preferred Park Concept

            Date: Thursday, March 21, 2002
            Time: 7 PM
            Where: Florence Schwimley Little Theatre
            1930 Allston Way, Berkeley

            The purpose of the upcoming public workshop will be to discuss
            the Preferred Park Concept. The planning team will provide an
            overview of the preferred concept development process and
            present preliminary plan proposals for land use, resource
            management, circulation, and facilities. Workshop participants
            will be asked to comment on these more detailed aspects of the plan to help guide the drafting of the General Plan.

            Parking is limited to street parking. Please take mass transit as possible.

            BART:
            Use the Richmond-Colma Line, deboard at the Downtown Berkeley station

            AC Transit:
            From the Oakland Area-take the 15, 40L, 43, 51, or 51M
            From the Richmond Area take the 15 or 67
            Passengers using the 15 Line exit Martin Luther King & Allston Way
            All other passengers exit at the Berkeley Bart Station

            Nearby Parking:
            Kittredge Street Parking Garage - 2020 Kittredge Street (across the street from theatre)

            Public Resources Code Section 5019.50 - 5019.74

            The following eight categories are used by the State Parks and Recreation Commission to classify land holdings within the
            State Park System.

            State Parks - spacious areas of outstanding scenic or natural character
            State Recreation Units - areas selected and operated to provide outdoor recreation
            - State Recreation Areas
            - Underwater Recreation Areas
            - State Beaches
            - Wayside Campgrounds
            Historical Units - areas to preserve objects of historical, archaeological and scientific interest
            State Seashore - spacious areas with frontage on the ocean, or on bays open to the ocean
            State Reserves - areas of outstanding natural or scenic character of statewide significance
            State Wildernesses - areas of undeveloped land, primarily affected by forces of nature
            Natural Preserves - distinct areas of outstanding natural or scientific significance
            Cultural Preserves - distinct areas of outstanding cultural interest
