Ken, Mark and gang, I kite for three years now.

I agree with with you. We kiter's need to give plenty of room, otherwise we
are going to lose our access, we need to learn how to co-exist. My
perspective
is that the sailors were there first and that a lot can go wrong with kite
systems and manuvers. Sometime at Rio when I am trying to get upwind or
downwind of the windsurfing lanes, I just fly the kite overhead and relax
in the water to let the windsurfer by.

Sure I can jump over someone. We just need to remember we are all out there
to relax
and have a good time. Having someone jump over you is not relaxing.

It is the duty of kiters to teach the newbie's. When we see people doing
un-cool
things we should talk to them. It is just so much fun that sometimes we get
carried
away.

It is hard to imagine with the whole big bay, that everyone wants to be on
top
of each other. If you are powered on a kite and have a wake 'n' style board
like me, you can go upwind like you are on a salom board.

One thing windsurfers can do, is help the kiters launch, by learning how to
catch kites properly and help weigh the people down during launching.
Hold onto their harness, offer to help if you can, they will usually want
it.

One thing kiters can do to help windsurfers, is tow them in when they get
stuck, I have done this and it's easy.

Steve
