- I have 4 masts and 3 booms. If I get new ones every 3 seasons
that works out to at least a mast and boom every season.
It might save a swim in, but it would ruin my marriage %-).
I do buy a new universal every season, but I don't see
any reason to replace masts that often. Masts do break,
but I don't think age has anything to do with it as
long as you keep the mast out of the sun.

- They've been discussed on this list many times.
There's a searchable archive at

- Sooner or later everyone has a "pilot error",
the irresponsible part is when you aren't ready
to deal with it. Only experience will give you
the necessary judgment to know when to go and
when to stay. Unfortunately, the only way to
acquire experience is through bad judgment.
