I went back to a shop to try and see about
getting one that wasn't so floppy, but the guy at the shop said the recent
chinook shipments of the two bolts were really floppy... and they were. He
said
each shipment is a little different in strength and marked by a little
insignia
on it.

Interesting. I have two u-joints - an orange tendon and a black hourglass
with webbing. In the past, Chinook u-joints appeared to be the same for both
the single bolt and double bolt bases. I'm wondering if Chinook might be
having quality control problems?

I replace my u-joints periodically. I don't know if the original hourglass
came with webbing or if I added it at a later date. Also, the short section
of cord on the tendon is NOT an effective "mast catcher". I substitute
Spectra.
