What a great weekend for windsurfing! Crissy was a blast! At crissy I
demoed a Real Wind 261cm board, and found it to be quite nice. It was the
first tri-fin that I have sailed. I found it to be quite turny, and jibes
like a dream. I have been in the market for a new board and the RW took me
by suprise. I have reading the reviews on the JP's, Naish's, Mistrals, and
F2's and they have some really nice wavy/B&J boards out there. I hope those
on the list might offer some of your thoughts on the topic.
Me: 6'0"/170#'s, sails mostly Crissy, 3rd, Coyotee, but enjoy wave sailing
in Maui and plan to get to the cost more often here. I currently sail an
ASD Enduro 8'6"
1) What are the pros & cons of a tri fin board(vs. std. single fin)?
(it certainly sticks to the water in the voodoo chop!)
- upwind ability?
- speed?
- quickness to a plane?
2) What is the word on Real Wind boards?
- Are they durable?
- What is the quality like?
- Are the boards consistent? (i.e. will I end up with the same size/shape as
the one I demoed)
- How responsive is the company if there is a problem?
I appreciate any thoughts that you have on the topic. You can either reply
to me directly or to the list.
Many thanks,
David
