Those of you who have been sailing Crissy lately are aware of the pending
paving operation. GGNRA and GGNPA folks have admittedly been slow in
getting info out on this to everyone, including posting on the bulletin
board at the beach. Due to a higher year-round and daily usage that
anticipated (no comment), more durable parking is needed to carry the load.
The objective is to widen the existing parking strip which lies adjacent to
the seat wall, to the south towards the restroom, and add approximately 82
more paved spaces along its length. The grass areas are and will always
remain parkable/riggable, and in this new paved component, windsurfers will
be able to back up to the edge and rig on the grass. Note that there will
be a small curb erected at the edge of this new section (I'm not crazy
about the idea), to, as they say "give the pavement - grass interface a
chance to survive." Can't argue with that.

SFBA reps are meeting with GGNRA, GGNPA and their consultants this Tuesday,
April 10th, to address our continuing concerns about the beach, the grass,
and the 100 car overflow Crissy parking (just south of Mason) that the
Presidio Trust is reneging on. In addition, the Presidio Trust has also
proposed to charge for parking on the main Post (not Crissy, it is not
their jurisdiction). However, this may have the effect of forcing those
who do not want to pay, onto Crissy parking. More on this issue later, but
be advised that this could be a very serious issue. Any questions, drop me
a line.. we'll keep you informed via the SFBA web site, newsletter, enews
and this listserve. - Bill

thursday was a great classic crissy day.

Big ebb took me away from the pack and up to the bridge in 3 tacks,
smoother water up there. Other places had some brutal chop.

Back at the parking lot things are settling down and looking good. Most
of the ropes have come down, and doggy bag dispensers are up.
I parked and rigged on grass, and rinsed off in fresh water.
Ghilotti Bros. have a bunch of heavy equipment there, looks like the
paved section next to the beach is being enlarged! There were 40-50
sailors out, and still room to park and rig.

it's been a long a time commin.
Bob
