Wednesday night: San Francisco. Plush room, 800 block of Sutter
street. The room swung to the smooth rhythm of Paula West singing a
kickin' jazz set from Bing Crosby to her own song "ride the snake"

Thursday. 1:30 pm. Wadell Creek Beach. South swell pumping in.
Perfect 5.0 steady conditions. Day one of 2001. Universal
(everyone had me worried) well hell what about anything that I was
about to stand on the water. I just took it all out of stogage.
The fog bank was in the same place, it was like just waking up to a
new day: the 2001 sailing season. Headed out. No problem. 3 on
the beach. PING, where the hell am I (upside down), in the water
get back out and get outside- find a set coming in, turn, smooth.
Sail (my forearms are screaming!) Wow, this thing is actually
coming together as the wave picks up-there's swell growing like a
steady beat. I should have noticed this earlier. Head high maybe?
Reach hand back, drive knee's, head up, drive knee's YEAh (repeat,
repeat) speed up , jibe, DO IT ALL AGAIN. I'm such a beginner but
the simple pleasures of the bottom turn are amazing! Lets go do it
again.

Just wanted to tell everyone it's windy and there is swell.

any questions?
