Great story, glad it had a happy ending. I had one of those "board
heading for the rocks, given up for hamburger, but stopped short in an
eddy" experiences, on Lucky Peak Lake here in Idaho. The waves weren't
quite as big. :-)

My second event was having my rig and board separate in the middle of the
Columbia at Doug's Beach, on a light, late afternoon with just two of us out.
I had the choice of keeping the rig, or trying to swim after the board.
I made the second choice, but too late, as it cruised upriver with the wind.
That left me with nothing to do but swim, swim, swim. My buddy did sail
across the river and fetch my board back (thanks again Chris!) after I
landed and walked a quarter mile back to the park and told him about
it, but the rig was an offering.

So, what TWavo said: Check your gear.
