I had read an article in Chron last week that mentioned development plans that include row of 12 story condos/hotels on the SF side of TI. Having seen what the Mariott in Aruba does and all the concerns about development height impacting windsurfing in SF South Bay, this caught my attention.

My sense is, never having sailed TI, that the condo site is not very near the usual launch site (and maybe not upwind). However, the launch site may be where there is discussion of some sort of wildlife/nature preserve.

Then, in the Feb 9th East Bay Express (free newspaper), I saw an ad placed by the US Navy inviting anyone to join the TI Environmental Restoration Advisory Board (RAB). Although the ad is in gov't speak, it might be a chance to have at least some input into this entire process. There is an Open House from 5-7PM on Tuesday, Feb 20th, at the Casa de la Vista Building on TI (wherever that is). Although this may be more about environmental cleanup than development oversight, I'm not certain. The RAB itself meets every 3rd Tuesday at 7PM, in the same building, so must meet right there after the Open House on 2/20 (and the RAB meeting is open as well). RAB membership is open and applications being accepted. Mr. Steve Edde is the main contact at 510-749-5952.

I have evening plans, but may try to stop in on my way home around 5PM.

Now, on to Crissy.

I walked the beachfront at low tide last week (down there for business meeting) just to see how things look. Was pleasantly surprised to see minimal debris (based on all the sand erosion concerns I'd heard about) except for a few exposed piling ends and those large concrete "berms" extending straight out between the yacht club and the main Crissy launch site. However, maybe more sand has recently been trucked in?

In addition, I checked out the new restroom complex with its spiffy windsock. It is spartan, but much better than nothing. However, the shower heads did not provide water. I was curious about why, as the rest of that facility has water?
