Fielder" <dfielder@cooper.cpmc.org-DeleteThis> Subject: Fin Warranty Question
I just had the stock fin on my 6 month old Xantos 290 snap off right at
base during jibe. I'd noticed a bit of paint cracking/spalling in that
region (Curtis black painted fin - 15.75 inch rather upright model), which
may have been from normal stresses or indicative of immanent failure (?).
For info, I'm 185 and usually sailed it with a 7.5 sail, although was using
a new 8.7 for first time (I'm sure that didn't help - but seems not too
extreme).
I've been told that F2 "warranty" wouldn't cover the fin. Has anyone had a
different experience? Would it be useful to contact Curtis?
It wasn't a great fin (IMHO) and I was moving to upgrade anyway, so it's
mainly "the principle".
Thanks, David
