<<Surely there's a benevolent guru atop the bluffs or something, but I
haven't found him and wouldn't know what sort of substance to bring as
an offering if I had.>>

How do you know the guru is a he? I think the ocean is a female.......
What substance to bring? surely someone from Berkely may have some ideas ;
-)

Don't let all these threads about the landlord and right of way rules keep
you away from the surf. Wave sailing is a different sport from B&J. They
are both fun, but very different. For some it's just physically different.
For me, it's all encompasing: physical, emotional and spiritual. I did not
feel this way at first. I was nervous, worried and intimidated. I went to
Waddell and got my ass kicked (note: do not try to learn wave sailing in N.
Cali in the spring in 4.5 conditions + overhead surf). I went to Maui and
took lessons on wave riding. I came back home and practiced. Now, I will
sacrifice any day of sailing in the bay/river for ocean sailing.

I sail in the bay + river as well. There are many pleasures in life:
having choices is one of them.

I have an amazing wife who has learned how to windsurf (in 2 years she has
gone from begginer to planing jibes!!). She loves to sail at Sherman and
some bay sites. I am lucky that my wife sails at all, not to mention rips.
She is getting interested in wave sailing. I am eagerly looking forward to
the day that she calls me in the office and asks me to leave early to bag a
sesh on the coast. That day is coming. In the meantime, I count my
blessing and have a great time sailing at Sherman Island on the weekends.

So why the tangent? If you are interested in ocean/wave sailing, do it.
Enjoy this amazing place where we live - it has so many choices.

Zeev, sitting in the office wishing I was at Waddell.
