Me, too! I'm always looking for SJ sailors. Drop me a line and we can hang
out. I drive a white over grey late model Dodge Grand Caravan AWD.

I don't know if there are substantive differences between the different
sites which are on the levee road west of highway 4, but some locals claim
that Access is better for the morning session, and Powerlines is better in
the afternoon. There are most definitely days where one is good and the
other isn't, though, that's for sure. Then there's several launches in
between, like the Sign and Baja. If you're really in doubt, just drive up
and down the levee road, everything's within 10 minutes of each other.
Windy Cove, the Jungle and Glass Beach are all sailable on westerlies, but I
only sail there on northerlies which generally happen in late Fall. Also,
check the tide charts, the levee road sites are best during an ebb, Windy
Cove in a flood. It's b&j sailing, sail sizes are 3.7-6.0 depending on the
day, usually in the 4.7/5.2 range. Board sizes are 8'-10' depending on
conditions, but I sail my 8'6" there almost exclusively, sometimes my 8'4"
(I'm 185).

Say what? Where exactly is this party you are going to? San Luis is near
I-5 off 152 (Pacheco Pass). That's *way* far south and east of San Jose. I
guess it depends on whether your definition of "south of San Jose" means
Gilroy or south from there, unless you're going to the party on the way
back. It's easily an hour's drive, if you drive like a maniac like me, from
the 101/85 intersection. Be advised that Pacheco Pass is a *very* dangerous
road (numerous fatal accidents on it and the connector roads, usually,
head-on collisions), and the cops patrol it heavily. 152 and the connectors
also get tons of big rig traffic, and you can get stuck behind one for an
extended period. I would allow at least 75-90 minutes from the 101/85
intersection. Moreover, 101 is 2 lane between just south of 101/85 and
Morgan Hill/Gilroy, and it is frequently a parking lot.

No showers at San Luis, but at least the water is fresh. Does anyone know
what the weed and water level situation is these days at O'Neill forebay?
It frequently is not sailable, or very unpleasant sailing when the weeds get
thick and the water level is low.
