Several of us sailed from Berkeley up to TI where we stopped for a while.
We were on sail sizes around 8.4 - 9.5, my wife on a 7.6. We were little
underpowered but comfortable. I saw a couple of people rigging on a boat
there. Our group kept sailing upwind to the channel marker where some turned
around and sailed downwind back to Berkeley. My wife and
I kept sailing upwind and kept cruising the bay and worked our way
towards the Ferry building where the water was mellow and flat.
When we got close to the City, the wind was getting lighter so we turned
around and headed the other way towards Angel Island; it was windier and
choppier between Alcatraz and Angel. We sat on the beach for a while at
Angel and enjoyed the view of the City. On the way back down wind from
Angel, we stopped again at TI, but did not see anybody sailing there anymore
except some of our friends who sailed up from Berkeley again the second
time. We all headed downwind and planed to just about His Lordship. There
was no wind in Berkeley at that point (6:00-6:30) so it took us about 45 min
to shlog to the dock but it was worth it - we had another beautiful day
sailing, perfect for easy cruising on the bay.
