The last I heard the supervisor of the National Park told me that they were
working on the acquisition of Grassy Point. They were waiting for appraisal
information to come back. I encouraged him in the effort to purchase the land
and stressed the recreational value which might not be indicated in a
traditional appraisal. He indicated that they would most likely leave the
access as is rather than messing around with trails and bathrooms and the
requirement for more service and maintenance. We have not preserved Grassy
Point yet, but I am optimistic. I haven't made an effort on Marconi and I
don't expect it is the type of parcel that the NPS would want, but maybe the
State Park would be interested in conjunction with the conference center
which I think is State owned?
